How to use SIS

Every feature, step by step.

Pick anything below and press Talk me through it, and I'll walk you through how to use it. The steps are written underneath each one as well, so you can follow along on your phone.

Free, always

Using SIS

Everything here is free, and stays on your phone.

Tell your story

Say the whole thing, your way. No forms, no order.

  1. On the home screen, tap Tell your story.
  2. Write it however it comes. A few lines or pages, typos and all. There's no wrong place to begin.
  3. Come back and add to it whenever you like.
  4. With Premium, tap Sort my story into my record and SIS picks out the details and offers to put them in the right places.

Whenever Log

Catch something the moment it happens, and sort it later.

  1. Tap Jot at the top of the screen.
  2. Write what's happening, in a word or a sentence.
  3. Tap Add to your whenever log. It's saved with the date and time.
  4. Tick Include in doctor summary on anything you want your doctor to see.

Note a symptom

Over 150 symptoms to tap, or just say it your way.

  1. On the home screen, tap Note a symptom.
  2. Tap the symptoms that fit. They're grouped by area of the body.
  3. Or type it in your own words. If SIS recognises something, it asks, and you tap Add it or No, leave it.
  4. Add when it started and what you were told in Timing & response.

Appointments

Past visits, what was said, and what's coming.

  1. On the home screen, tap Add an appointment.
  2. For a past visit, add when, who you saw, what you discussed and what you were told.
  3. Add the next step, so nothing gets lost between visits.
  4. Booked something? Put it under What's coming.

Medications

What you take now, and what you've tried before.

  1. On the home screen, open All your rooms and tap Medications.
  2. Add the name, the dose, how often you take it and what it's for.
  3. Add the ones you've stopped too. What didn't work matters just as much.

Tests, scans and letters

Bloods, imaging, procedures, and your letters in one place.

  1. Open All your rooms and tap Tests & scans for bloods, imaging and procedures.
  2. Tap Documents & letters to keep your letters and results as photos or PDFs.
  3. They stay on your phone, ready when someone asks "have you had that done?"

Family history

What runs in your family, ready for a new referral.

  1. Open All your rooms and tap Family history.
  2. Tap Add a relative, then add what they had.
  3. Don't know? Tap I don't know my family history. That's an answer too, and it counts.

Doctor summary

One clear page to take into your appointment.

  1. On the home screen, tap Prepare for your appointment.
  2. Choose Quick check-in for a follow-up, or New referral for the whole history.
  3. Tick what goes in. Your own words stay out unless you choose to include them.
  4. Tap Save as PDF or Email to myself. Nothing leaves your phone until you share it.

See your patterns

What SIS has noticed across everything you've recorded.

  1. On the home screen, tap See your patterns.
  2. You'll see Your story so far: your key signals, and What this could mean.
  3. These are patterns in what you wrote, not a diagnosis. They're there to help you ask the right questions.

Safety warnings

Always on, always free. Nothing to switch on.

  1. Just use SIS as normal.
  2. If you record something that shouldn't wait, SIS tells you plainly, and how soon to get it seen.
  3. It points you to your local emergency number wherever you are, and never tells you what you have.

Voice notes

For the days typing is too much.

  1. Tap Jot at the top of the screen to open the Whenever Log.
  2. Tap Record a voice note and talk.
  3. Tap Stop when you're done. It's saved with the time, and the audio never leaves your phone.

Save a copy, or delete it all

Your data, your call.

  1. Scroll to the bottom of the home screen.
  2. Tap Save a copy of my data. Add a password if you'd like, and keep the file somewhere safe.
  3. Changing phone? Restore from that file on the new one.
  4. Delete all my data removes everything, voice notes included.

Using Big Sis

For when you'd like a hand. Before anything leaves your phone, you see exactly what would be shared, and you decide.

Work out what to ask

Talk an appointment through before you go.

  1. On the home screen, tap Work out what to ask.
  2. Tell Big Sis what the appointment is about and what you want from it.
  3. Check the screen that shows exactly what would be shared. Switch anything off you'd rather keep back.
  4. Tap Send. Your name and personal details are never included.

Explain a word or phrase

Any term from your letters or records, in plain English.

  1. On the home screen, tap Explain a word or phrase.
  2. Type the word or phrase, just as it's written in your letter.
  3. Check what would be shared, then tap Send.

Understand my last appointment

What was said, in plainer terms.

  1. Add the appointment first, with what you were told.
  2. On the home screen, tap Understand my last appointment.
  3. Check what would be shared, then tap Send.

Episodes and readings

One tap when it starts, one tap when it ends.

  1. On the home screen, tap Episodes and readings, then + Add an episode or reading.
  2. Name it, like "headaches" or "flare".
  3. When it starts, tap Start now. It shows under Running now.
  4. When it stops, tap End now. Add the detail later, when you feel up to it.
  5. Or keep a reading, a number you track over time.

Since my last appointment

A follow-up that doesn't start from the beginning again.

  1. On the home screen, tap Prepare for your appointment.
  2. Choose Since my last appointment.
  3. Add the Date of your last appointment. SIS shows only what's changed since then.
  4. Save it as a PDF to take with you.

Big Sis never diagnoses. She only ever sees what you choose to send for that one question, with personal identifiers removed, and nothing is stored.
